Workshop, Exhibition
Exhibition curated by Gabriela Burkhalter.
School class workshop and afternoon for everyone.
The world is a playground. What would my bedroom look like if it were a playground? What would my school look like? What would mum's office look like? Would the waiting room at my GP's have a slide out of the window?
During a 90-minute workshop, we create our dream playground (in the "Creative Lab (see catalogue)"). We gather ideas for the model we build during a guided tour of "The Playground Project", a playground as an exhibition.
On over 1000 square metres, the Kunsthalle showed that the playground, this niche in our cities, can be a subversive place, a field of experimentation in public space for art and society and an area of friction for adults, parents and children. We install play sculptures for children, take them on a journey through 100 years of playgrounds in films, photographs and objects and ask where we stand today. And we show what is possible beyond the standard.
